Life and legacy
Marty and Gloria built a life rooted in family, community, and giving back.
Marjorie "Gloria" Talpers grew up in Casper, Wyoming, where music became one of her lifelong passions. She attended Mills College before transferring to the University of Colorado Boulder, where she met Martin "Marty" Trotsky.
Marty came to CU Boulder in 1938, earned his degree, and competed for the university in baseball and basketball. Marty and Gloria married in Denver on December 19, 1944, and raised their family in Colorado.
Their lives together reflected the values the Martin and Gloria Trotsky Foundation carries forward: devotion to family, gratitude for opportunity, love of music and learning, connection to community, and a steady belief in giving back. Marty and Gloria each lived past 100, leaving the family with more than a century of example, memory, and responsibility to carry forward.
